You do realize that one doesn't have any optical zoom, right? I don't know if that's important to you or not, but in that price range, it's kind of surprising. The Canon A series (A 80, zB) and the S series (S 410, zB) do have optical; that may be something worth looking at. The A series uses 4 AA batteries, which makes it a bit bulkier, whereas the S series uses the Canon rechargable battery pack. Optics wise, though, Canon is definitely the one to look at.

(Wow, look at that; atrophy doesn't set in after only four months!)

Another suggestion would be the Olympus D-580 (http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=90132649&loc=111&sp=1). It has 3x Optical and 4x Digital zoom, is a 4.0 megapixel camera, and takes QuickTime movies with sound.

I've been very pleased with the one that [livejournal.com profile] ladyleo and I picked up a couple of weeks ago.

That and it's only $218 with free shipping at buy.com.

I'd strongly recommend a camera with optical zoom. Digital zoom just doesn't work all that well (I completely turned it off on my camera).

Speaking of my camera, I just got this one as a birthday present. So far, I'm quite pleased.

Hedonistic consumer binges are good, yes.
FWIW, The bronze looks nifty. I'd get that one.

I am quite happy with my ELPH s-400. It's basically the same unit as the one you are considering above, but it has that all-important "optical zoom". SO it's a little larger than the SD-10, but not much bigger than a Cell phone, so it's still rather convienient.

Now, if I could even actually remember to USE it, I'd be in business.
