CONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

or the great site [livejournal.com profile] delathi found: http://www.khaaan.com/

Despite world events, I do intend to indulge and have fun this weekend.
If you've tried to help in whatever way, I encourage you to do the same. If you haven't at least sent a little money (the Red Cross site accepts donations as low as $5), what the hell?
That stupid t-shirt you were going to buy with the naked woman riding a dragon on it? You don't need it.

Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
(flaming lips)

Now, onward to Fear and Loathing in Atlanta!

See you there, baby!

I have no idea where to begin with this, but am open to suggestions.

Clicking Donate buttons isn't feeling right for me. That's all some people can do (and some don't even have the capacity to do so right now), but being healthy, in decent financial shape and having some control over my time, I wanted to propose an idea to some of you.

All these cries of "Do Something"? Let's!

Atlanta Red Cross Volunteer Inquiry Form
Helping locally (working blood drives, that sort of thing) would have a direct impact, plus it could still involve the actual travel - taking supplies, perhaps evacuees) - I think this next weekend, when people will still be starving and in dire need, would be optimal.
If it takes someone calling you up to help you actually mobilize for action, I will try to help be that person.
If we end up in a position to travel to help on-site, I will help coordinate transportation, rent vans, collect donations of food/etc.

Not everyone can do this sort of thing, or even donate any money, and that's fine. If you can, well...

EDIT to CLARIFY:
Something will happen this coming weekend. Whatever has been holding you back from volunteering, I'd like to help coordinate overcoming those things. For me, the idea of showing up alone to do this is paralyzing. So I'm looking for people to push me, and I'll help push them.
