What always amazes me is how there are really big celebs - actors or musos who are HUGE in European countries or in asia and yet they could walk down Melbourne or New York and no one would know or care who they are. Yet allover the world people would know who Tom Cruise or a big "western" "star" is.
Like India, where they make the most amount of films in the world. Apart from American directors (or someone like Baz Luhrman) who homage Bollywood stuff, or tarantino and countless directors drawing from japanese warrior flicks or HK action flicks, none of those films have much of a market here or are considered "important" enough to release in regular suburban movie cinemas.
