bumdum dun dun DUNTDA!

I was just listening to fucking Covenant DEAD STARS on last.fm (my profile - LINK ME!) and thinking "Goddamn, how many damn times did I hear this song at every single fucking goth-industrial night out for years and years, The Chamber, The Vault, Masquerade, Rarity, Nine Lives...and...and..."

And then I became really...really nostalgic... :(

damnit.
*sniff*

Yeah.

No doubt.

It kind of weirds me out when I hear it played at a club these days. I can still dance to it and in non-ironic fashion, but it definitely feels rooted in other times.

[le sigh]....

[identity profile] unrepentant.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Not familiar with the tune. Man, according to your profile, you listen to some fuck-AWFUL music, don't ya?

[identity profile] unrepentant.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee hee!

So I just picked up the Torq Connectiv yesterday. It's basically like Final Scratch or Serato - a digital dj setup that lets you control mp3 playback with actual turntables or cd players. Pretty much all the pro djs are using something like that these days. (Records are heavy and a pain in the butt to transport.)

Anyway, I took it home, plugged everything in, and immediately cued up Dead Stars as the first track.

*sigh*

You're making my eyes leak! :(

[identity profile] wanderingastray.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah...

wow. that and fischer spooner "emerge"

after awhile, the employees, rather than getting sick of the same six songs, actually came to look forward to hearing them. they were easy to dance to, stuff we recognized and could 'relax' to. I remember, vividly, how every time that opening sequence came over the speakers, we'd all grin and kind of.. ease into our grooves for awhile.

I miss those days.

Yeah, different things can transport me to different -very specific- spots.

*sniffle*

Now I don't think such situations exist but for private house parties, for which I am thankful, but there's sometimes something missing.

I mean besides rampant nudity, which is a plus of the house parties.

My ipod does that to me sometimes.

At least it isn't MCL's New York, New York.

:-P

[identity profile] jaydedone.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hey. It -could- have been. :)

(That one's nostalgic for me too.)

[identity profile] orangecone.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
It used to be nostalgic for me until I worked in a club where the song was played at least once a night if not more. heh.

That was 13 years ago. I'm just now able to listen to the song and enjoy it again.

[identity profile] scottopic.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
That was definitely my point with Dead Stars. I would roll my eyes. Now...it caught me off guard! *weep*!

[identity profile] ravenousfaerie.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
i feel ya brotha! I actually JUST NOW about a week ago deletes that song from my mp3 player because it was time to let go. I still have Fisherspooner tho. haha

[identity profile] poisongirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel that way about that song too.
Oh and And One Panzer blah blah blah

I regularly get all nostalgic about those good ole clubbin days. Also always always Headhunter!

But I don't miss my car being broken into on a regular basis...
